FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Utilizing funding provided by the soy checkoff, the Delaware Soybean Board (DSB) is currently seeking proposals for marketing and educational activities which result in a stronger soybean industry. Priority areas identified by the Board of Directors for proposals include animal agriculture, consumer education, emerging market, production, and technology, however any projects demonstrating benefit to soybean growers in the First State will be considered.

“Proposals will be reviewed by the farmer-leaders who serve on our Board of Directors, representing each of the three counties in the state,” explains DSB Chair Tim Rogers. “From these proposals, we will select the projects which will have the greatest impact on soybean farming in Delaware.”

Proposals should be submitted for projects that will be completed during the upcoming fiscal year of October 1, 2024 – September 30, 2024. Those interested in applying should contact Executive Director Danielle Farace at danielle@desoybeans.org for specific instructions on submission. The deadline to apply is July 12, 2024.

Delaware farmers plant about 150,000 acres of soybeans annually, producing over seven million bushels of beans and generating approximately $60 million in value to the state. The Delaware Soybean Board consists of nine farmer-directors and the Secretary of Agriculture. Funded through a one-half of one percent assessment on the net market value of soybeans at their first point of sale, the checkoff works with partners in the value chain to identify and capture opportunities that increase farmer profit potential.
