FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The Delaware Soybean Board (DSB) has approved $65,940 in funding for research projects for the 2026 growing season. These strategic investments aim to maximize the value of every dollar invested in the soybean checkoff by addressing field-level challenges and delivering practical solutions for Delaware soybean growers.
“Soybean farmers contribute to the checkoff with every bushel sold, and it’s essential those dollars are invested in projects that deliver real, on-farm value,” said Tim Rogers, chair of the Delaware Soybean Board and a farmer from Frankford. “With a return on investment of $12.30 for every dollar invested, the soybean checkoff continues to demonstrate its impact in strengthening farmer profitability and supporting long-term industry growth.”
The FY26 research portfolio focuses on:
- Pest and disease management through insecticide, seed treatment, and integrated strategies
- Soil health and fertility using amendments and biological inputs
- Planting and management practices to improve stand establishment and yields
- Input efficiency to maintain productivity while managing costs
Each project is selected for funding by the farmer-leaders of the Delaware Soybean Board with a clear focus: delivering real, measurable returns to Delaware soybean growers through improved yields, reduced risk, and more effective management strategies.

Delaware farmers plant approximately 150,000 acres of soybeans annually, producing more than seven million bushels and contributing significantly to the state’s agricultural economy. The Delaware Soybean Board consists of farmer-directors and the Secretary of Agriculture. Funded through a one-half of one percent assessment on the net market value of soybeans at their first point of sale, the soybean checkoff works with partners across the value chain to identify and capture opportunities that increase farmer profit potential.
