FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Deadline to Apply: July 14, 2025
No two growing seasons are the same—and that’s what makes the Delaware Soybean Yield Contest both challenging and rewarding. Whether it’s a bumper crop year or a season marked by tough weather, the contest gives every farmer the chance to see how their yields stack up against others facing the same conditions.
“The Yield Contest recognizes the skill and determination of Delaware farmers,” said Delaware Soybean Board Chair Tim Rogers. “In a strong year, we celebrate record-setting yields, and in a tough year, we celebrate resilience. Either way, the contest highlights what’s possible and helps growers learn from each other.”
Now in its thirteenth year, the contest will honor top producers in three divisions:
- Full season soybeans
- Double crop soybeans
- Non-irrigated soybeans
A $1,000 prize will be awarded to the statewide winner in each division, with $250 county-level prizes for the top full season and double crop producers.
The contest is open to all Delaware soybean growers. Rules, entry forms, and past results are available at www.desoybeans.com/yield-contest. Growers with questions are encouraged to contact Yield Contest Coordinator Steve Breeding at 302-381-6129 or spbreeding@gmail.com.
Each year, Delaware farmers plant about 160,000 acres of soybeans, producing more than seven million bushels and contributing approximately $60 million in value to the state’s economy. The Delaware Soybean Board—comprised of nine farmer-directors and the Secretary of Agriculture—invests soybean checkoff dollars into research, education, and promotion to keep Delaware growers competitive and profitable.
