Education

An important part of the soybean checkoff mission is education: Working with various audiences to ensure that information about soybeans, soybean production and the soybean industry are shared.

The soybean board works with the University of Delaware as they develop Ag Week, held in January each year in Harrington. Soybean checkoff-sponsored research is often featured on the agenda for Agronomy Day, and the soybean board is developing a Yield Contest to compile and share successful production information. Results of the Yield Contest are shared during Agronomy Day. (You may register to participate in the Yield Contest on this site; see the links above this text.)

Educating consumers about the soybean industry is a key concern. The soybean board hosts an exhibit at the Delaware State Fair, educating consumers about soybeans and soy-based products, and about the role of poultry and livestock production in supporting local economies, environmental health and quality of life. In addition, the soybean board partners with Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc., to support consumer education.
